Out4Immigration is an all-volunteer grassroots organization fighting to end discrimination in U.S. immigration laws against same-sex bi-national couples and their families.
Our current unfair immigration policies in this country deny LGBT Americans the right to sponsor their permanent partner or spouse to live with them here in the United States.
As you may be aware, these Americans in loving and committed relationships are often forced to make heartbreaking decisions to maintain their relationship. More often than not, these include having to leave the United States in order to be with the person they love. These American citizens are forced to give up careers, leave behind aging parents and young adult children who rely on them and leave a community which benefits from their ongoing and active participation.
The Uniting American Families Act (UAFA; S.424/H.R. 1024) would provide LGBT U.S. citizens and permanent residents the right to sponsor their partner for immigration. This bill outlines the same process and penalties that are applied in heterosexual partner (i.e., marriage or fiancée) sponsorship applications.
Please call your Senators and Representative today and tell them that comprehensive immigration reform is not comprehensive unless it includes all families - including LGBT families - and that you'd like to see them co-sponsor the Uniting American Families Act (UAFA) and support its inclusion in comprehensive immigration reform.
You can send an e-mail to both your Senators and your Representative here.
