This training will be open to anyone interested in gaining basic information and tools to work with the media while campaigning for LGBT civil rights. The training is being organized and presented by Indiana Equality and Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). The training will last three hours.

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to Councilor Karen Goldner of Fort Wayne, for her tireless efforts to introduce an ordinance that would have provided civil right protections to transgender residents; and to Councilors Glynn Hines, Tim Pape and John Shoaff for supporting her. In addition, a very special thanks goes to the members of the Fort Wayne PFLAG, Azariah Southworth, Rev. Bill Deans, Roger McNett , Rev. John Gardner, Plymouth Congregational Church, Jean Foley, Vivian Benge, Chris Becker, Linda Bentz, Mark Sniderman, Chris Douglas, Jackie Nytes, Scott Keller, United Auto Workers, Leonard Helfrich, Shannon Garcia, Trans Youth Family Allies, INTRAA, Rev. Jim Evans, Kris Wise, Thad Gerardot and Stan Pflueger for providing Indiana Equality their endless time and support in assisting Councilor Karen Goldner in her efforts to get the ordinance introduced. It is our hope that community dialogue and education will continue to take place in Fort Wayne so that others are educated about the obstacles transgender people face in their daily lives.
We are far from obtaining LGBT civil rights in Indiana. For some of us, our employer provides protections for LGBT employees and we get too comfortable assuming we are safe; but more than 70% of us in Indiana are not protected. Society has come to accept differences in lifestyle, but we must NEVER assume that we are finished. We are far from it. The opposition has power and by that I mean, money, to continuously fight our mission of obtaining civil rights for LGBT Hoosiers please send a check today and host a House Party for Indiana Equality. We need YOUR support in carrying out our mission to gain civil rights for all LGBT Hoosiers. Please visit www.indianaequality.org for more information.
